One Step Ahead
One Step Ahead
"One Step Ahead" was born from those early morning trail runs, when the world was still asleep, and I ventured into the pitch-black darkness at 4 AM. With nothing but a headlamp to guide me, I’d feel the overwhelming weight of the unknown—no sense of what lay on either side, nothing behind me, just the next step illuminated. Every rustle, every shadow seemed to move, and fear would grip my chest, whispering that danger was lurking in the darkness.
This charcoal piece captures that moment—the feeling of being completely alone, surrounded by uncertainty, but trusting that the next step would somehow lead me forward. You see the figure, faint and solitary, surrounded by shadows that morph into unspoken fears and unseen threats. It’s that exact feeling I carried on the trail—the sense that something might be there, but also the unwavering resolve to keep moving, to trust in that thin beam of light, and to believe that it would eventually lead me out.
"One Step Ahead" isn’t just about running in the dark; it’s about facing life when you can’t see what’s ahead, and yet you push forward, step by step, trusting that somehow, you’ll find your way.
