What Attending Art Basel Miami Week 2025 Means to Me as an Artist

Attending Art Basel Miami Week in 2025 was a truly unique experience—one I couldn’t miss. As an artist who frequently visits museums like the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (where I’m a member), I often go not to copy, but to be inspired. There’s a big difference.

There’s something indescribable about the way certain pieces make me feel—how they project emotion, presence, or intention. I try to empathize with the artists’ motives, to sense why they did what they did. It’s not about agreeing with their ideas or values, but about connecting through pure emotion.

As someone who works with mixed media, I’m constantly observing how materials are used, and how I might reimagine them in my own practice to bring more depth to my expression.

Art Basel is overwhelming in the best way—there’s so much expression, so much energy, that I can’t absorb it all in one day. I have to take it in over several days, in layers.

Below, I’m sharing photos of the pieces and sculptures that impacted me the most. Out of respect for the artists, I’m not attributing specific names to the works, since I don’t have full details for all of them. These images are simply a representation of my experience during Miami Art Week 2025, not a commentary on each individual piece.
