2025–2026
La Persistencia del Necio marks the presentation of a key body of work by Papayon at the Museo de Arte de Sonora (MUSAS). The exhibition brings together a selection of recent works that explore endurance, conviction, and the quiet tension between resolve and vulnerability.
Installed within the museum’s contemporary galleries, the exhibition situates Papayon’s practice in direct dialogue with institutional space, emphasizing material presence, scale, and narrative restraint.
Opening Night
The opening brought together artists, collectors, curators, and members of the local cultural community. Rather than functioning as spectacle, the inauguration served as an entry point into the work itself— allowing viewers to encounter the paintings in a measured, contemplative setting.

Installation View
The works were presented in a restrained installation that foregrounded surface, gesture, and compositional tension. Framing and spacing were treated as integral elements, containing the visual weight of each piece while allowing the series to breathe as a whole.
Significance
This exhibition represents a consolidating moment within Papayon’s ongoing trajectory—bridging personal mythology with institutional context. The presence of the work at MUSAS affirms its relevance beyond the studio, positioning it within a broader cultural and historical framework.
Several works from the exhibited series entered private collections during the run of the exhibition.
