Presented under the auspices of the Government of Sonora and the Instituto Sonorense de Cultura, La Persistencia del Necio marks Papayon’s first museum exhibition at the Museo de Arte de Sonora (MUSAS).

Bringing together a significant body of recent work, the exhibition explores resilience, contradiction, memory, and endurance through painting and mixed media. The works examine the tension between vulnerability and determination, inviting viewers to consider persistence not as certainty, but as an act of conviction.

Installed throughout MUSAS’s contemporary galleries, the exhibition places Papayon’s practice within an institutional context, emphasizing scale, material presence, and sustained visual engagement.

Significance
