The Private Line — Original Artwork by Papayon | Oil on canvas 2026
The Private Line places the language of command and confidential communication within an unexpected setting. Three mounted figures occupy the same landscape, yet only one holds the red telephone—a symbol of privileged access, sensitive information, and communication reserved for those closest to authority.
Dressed apart from the riders surrounding him, the central figure appears connected to a chain of command extending beyond the scene. Whether he is receiving instructions, intelligence, or a decision remains deliberately unresolved. The imbalance lies not in physical strength, but in access: all three figures are present, yet only one is connected to information capable of changing what happens next.
Part of Papayon’s Rules of Engagement series, the work examines hierarchy, negotiation, and the invisible structures operating behind visible encounters. Here, authority is not announced. It travels quietly through a private line.
