View Exhibition →In Refusing the Fall, Papayon explores the unstable threshold between collapse and resistance through a fractured equestrian figure suspended in motion.
The rider negotiates momentum, instinct, and pride in a moment where control has already begun to dissolve, yet surrender remains unresolved.
Painted through restless gestures and dissolving contours, the work examines resilience as an internal stance rather than a visible triumph. The struggle is not against gravity itself, but against the quiet decision to let go. What remains is character — a stubborn insistence on direction while the ground approaches and certainty dissolves.
