He Had Seen This Before belongs to Papayon’s Rules of Engagement series, an ongoing exploration of negotiation, ritual, power, and the unspoken knowledge carried into human encounters.

Three figures meet on horseback against an expansive field of color. At first, the scene appears almost ceremonial: measured distance, controlled posture, an exchange about to take place. Yet experience has already entered the conversation.

The title shifts the balance. Someone has been here before—not necessarily in this place, but in this kind of moment. What appears uncertain to one person may already feel familiar to another.

He Had Seen This Before considers the quiet advantage of recognition: the moment when experience becomes instinct, and instinct begins shaping an outcome before anything has been decided.
