Some works ask to be repeated.

This one refused.

The Last Stand emerged from a personal exploration of survival, memory, and the strange lives objects can acquire over time. The revolver, suspended within an aged frame, becomes less a weapon than a relic—a reminder that meaning changes long after a moment has passed.

Original work by Papayon — Latin American contemporary artist based in Houston, TX. Mixed media framed artwork painting, 13x17in. Certificate of authenticity included. Ships worldwide.

About This Work

Studio Record

Later transferred between private collections after a collector specifically sought out the original work.

Artist's Note

Months after leaving the studio, someone reached out looking for this exact work. He asked if the artist would create another like it.

Papayon declined.

The painting belonged to a particular moment, and another version would never be the same story.

Instead, he contacted the collector who owned the original piece and asked if she would ever consider parting with it. Most collectors choose to keep the works they live with.

This time, unexpectedly, she said yes.

The Last Stand found a second home, becoming one of the rare works to continue its journey through another private collection.
