Borrowing from a scene that has become part of popular memory, the work replaces certainty with humor, transforming recognizable figures into characters that are both playful and slightly unsettling.
The title interrupts the original narrative, suggesting that identity itself can become a costume. Luxury, loyalty, friendship, and rebellion overlap as the composition blurs the line between heroes and villains, authenticity and performance.
Layers of paint, intervention, and an ornate frame create a deliberate contrast between refinement and mischief. Rather than retelling an existing story, Prada Villains invites viewers to imagine a new one, where familiar characters take on unexpected roles.
Original work by Papayon — Latin American contemporary artist based in Houston, TX. Oil on canvas board, 13x16in, framed. Certificate of authenticity included.
