View Exhibition →Saint Michael has been depicted for centuries as a warrior, protector, and bearer of difficult decisions. Rather than illustrating a traditional religious scene, this work explores the persistence of that symbol through a contemporary language of gesture, texture, and absence.
The figure emerges rather than fully reveals itself, leaving space for memory and personal interpretation. Layers of white and blue suggest both permanence and fragility, while the antique frame anchors the work to a longer visual tradition.
Original work by Papayon — Latin American contemporary artist based in Houston, TX. Oil on canvas board, 24 × 20 in, framed. Certificate of authenticity included. Ships worldwide.
